Good News

There is nothing more wonderful, more worthy, or more intensely and eternally important we could share than this:

“I have come that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” – Jesus, John 10:10b (read it in context)

Because of God’s great love for us, He was willing to rescue us from our sins and His just wrath by sending His only Son to earth to be spit on, beat on, mocked, and murdered in our place, so that we could be forgiven of the wrongs we’ve done and will do (and which keep us trapped in many ways), and experience life which Jesus talked about: abundant life with Him for eternity.

And Jesus loved and trusted His Father so much, that though He was God, did not hold on to His equality with God, but let it go so He could come to earth and live a perfect life in human form. Because He had done no wrong, there was nothing in Himself that made punishment on the cross just. Except that He was willing to take on the punishment of us sinners. And that is what He did on the Good Friday that we celebrate every spring.

What we celebrate on Easter is His resurrection from the dead, a reality more profound and marvelous than you or I can imagine. The payment for our sins was complete, which we desperately need but cannot muster for ourselves. Jesus overcame death, which we could never do in our mortal bodies. And He offers eternal life, a relationship with the glorious God Himself, to any who would believe in Him. To whoever believes, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit, who provides wisdom and comfort and power to live this life, and which is His promise that you belong to Him forever.

The call to each of us, then, is simply to believe it and to confess our need to Jesus. This belief requires repentance, which is a desire to turn from our sin and to Christ-likeness. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” – 1 John 1:9

THAT is GOOD NEWS.

This is the Good News that we are staking our lives (and eternities) on, and that we find worth leaving the comforts of home to go and share. It’s that important. We would gladly dialogue with anyone who has questions about this (we’ve had them ourselves!), as it is our joy to discuss matters of the soul. 🙂 In the meantime, please see for yourself what Jesus claims. We recommend starting with the book of John
